A live streaming and monetization platform built at TrackIt as a strategic reference product to enable joint demos, technical discussions, and presales engagements with AWS teams around MediaLive-based architectures.
Rather than a ready-to-use commercial product, TrackFlix Live was intentionally developed as a showcase platform to demonstrate best practices for launching, operating, and monetizing live events on AWS. As Product Manager, I owned the product end-to-end, from market and user discovery to roadmap definition, delivery, and demo readiness.
The product was designed to move conversations beyond theoretical architectures into a working, observable system, making trade-offs and limitations explicit. This strategic positioning directly influenced product scope, UX depth, and prioritization decisions.
Discovery started with a structured analysis of existing live streaming platforms and reference architectures, alongside possibilities around MediaLive, MediaPackage, and ad insertion, combined with direct discussions with users operating live events on AWS, feedback from TrackIt customer-facing teams, and analysis of recurring issues during live event launches. Five recurring pain points emerged.
I defined a roadmap aligned with AWS demo and presales use cases, intentionally avoiding product over-polish in favor of flexibility and explainability. Prioritization focused on features that supported discussion, explanation, and demonstration rather than mass usability.
Even as a showcase product, TrackFlix Live was built with production-level discipline. Dashboards monitored live events in real time, degradation and failure scenarios were modeled, and data consistency was ensured across MediaLive, playback, and analytics layers. This allowed the product to support deep technical discussions rather than surface-level demos.
Everything needed to go from internal showcase to a client-facing AWS engagement asset, platform, positioning, and demo readiness.
TrackFlix Live became the concrete anchor for TrackIt's AWS presales motion. The platform successfully drove joint demos with AWS AMs and Edge Sellers supporting major broadcast customers, generating immediate interest in sharing the open-source approach with Sinclair, Gray TV, and MEGS customers.
The product demonstrated that a working, observable system is more effective than slide decks at driving meaningful architectural conversations with AWS partners.
“Wanted to give a quick shoutout to Matisse for giving a great demo of TrackFlix Live to Adam Chugg and Jeremy Labadie, the AWS AM and Edge Seller supporting MEGS customers like Sinclair and Gray TV. The demo was awesome, they loved that it's open source, and they immediately started strategizing who they want to share this with.”
